Brooklyn Workroom artisans are experts in custom-building, reupholstering, and recovering a wide range of period furniture pieces using the same techniques and materials used in a piece's original construction. Whenever possible, our Master Upholsterer recommends the materials employed initially be replaced with the same to retain the furniture's originality, integrity, and value.

The upholstery techniques used in furniture production vary depending on the era of the piece or the desired construction and fill a client wants. There are three main types of furniture periods: Modern (also known as "Mass Production"), Mid-Century, and Traditional. The original upholstery material and technique used in the piece will determine the time, material, and cost required to custom-build, recover, or reupholster it.

Brooklyn Workroom works closely with its clients to determine the most appropriate materials and upholstery techniques that fit their budget and the desired outcome for the upholstered piece. We are flexible and can significantly modify most designs based on our client's preferences.
